Sonia Colonna-Mathis is a versatile multi-media artist residing in Georgetown, Texas. She has always been focused on creating and continues art education every chance she gets. She received a BFA in Studio Art from the University of  Texas at Austin in 1998. Her work is whimsical with dark and often literary humor embedded in the symbolism. She is comfortable in just about any medium, but is always working to master skills in oils and mixed media.

She has created illustrations for board games and a phone app and organizes pop up art shows for her family and other local artists. She hosts an annual exhibit of dark art in October called the Haunted Art House and worked for years curating shows for galleries in Georgetown. She owned her own gallery and frame shop from 2010-2014. Sonia recently worked to restore oil paintings ina historical venue in San Antonio. Sonia has served on the Board of the Williamson County Art Guild as both Gallery and Newsletter Chairs. She has given talks and emos for several art groups in the Central Teas Area on how to keep moving and working as an artist no matter what life throws at you. She has worked as a custom picture frame designer since 1999 and holds two international awards.

Sonia is currently serving on the Exhibits Committee for the Georgetown Art Center. She takes on the occasional student looking for specific skills or advanced study. She believes, if we’re not challenged, we’re not growing . . .  and continues daily to be curious and open minded.
